“It's an exciting time at Albert Park, we have the most registered players we've had in many years, all teams are in finals contention, and we have a real chance to create some history this year” – Falcons president Enver Krasnic
The ANZ museum’s latest acquisition is close to the heart of the AFL loving public.
A commemorative jumper celebrating 70 years of the Albert Park Falcons Football Club and its origins as the ANZ Bank Football Club – also known as the “Zedders” - has been donated to ANZ’s Banking Museum.
The club’s roots stretch back to the era of workplace football teams, but since its rebirth as the “Falcons” in 1999, it has grown to represent the wider Albert Park Community. That evolution continued in 2019 with the launch of a women’s team.
Last year, the club celebrated its 70th anniversary with commemorative jumpers sponsored by ANZ, paying tribute to its origins as a bank-affiliated team.
Club President Enver Krasnic said it was great to have ANZ back on board, reaffirming the club’s commitment to continuing its historic partnership.
“It's an exciting time at Albert Park, we have the most registered players we've had in many years, all teams are in finals contention, and we have a real chance to create some history this year.”
Current Albert Park men’s player, Tommy Wilson, was also given the honour of becoming the third Albert Park men's player to make the Big V representative team.
The Big V (Premier B – Division 3) Men’s team put on 12.9.81 to defeat Bendigo FNL Seniors who scored 9.7.71 at Bendigo’s Queen Elizabeth Oval on July 13.
