“It’s ok to make mistakes, because that’s how we learn. And that’s probably been the biggest thing for me. I’ve been given the opportunity to make mistakes, learn from them, and become a better person, banker, and ANZ employee.” - Leisa Logan

Leisa Logan has seen a lot of change during her impressive 42-year career at ANZ.

But advancements in technology have been the biggest eye-opener.

“When I joined in 1983, everything was manual. I joined as a typist… and we had a printer that was the size of a car!”

Leisa got her first taste of ANZ as a teenager, working at the bank’s Martin Place office in Sydney.

It was also around the same time she met her future husband.

“When I was 18, I started going out with a guy who was in the Navy. He’s now my husband (of) 37 years.”

But Leisa’s husband’s military career meant the pair was constantly on the move.

“I would call HR and tell them that my boyfriend’s moved again! And they were so accommodating.”

Across her four decades at ANZ, Leisa has worked around the country, from Nowra (on the New South Wales south coast), to Canberra, Sydney and now Melbourne.

Working as a Branch Manager was Leisa’s first passion. She held that role in Donvale, in Melbourne’s east, for 16 years.

But opportunity again came knocking – this time at ANZ’s Head Office in Docklands.

It was a huge jump for Leisa (she’s now a Senior Retail Facilitator for Australia Retail), but one of the best career decisions she’s ever made.

“My main emphasis now is to explain the “why” to the front line. Explaining the connection,.”

Leisa is a wonderful example of someone who’s embraced change during her time at the bank.

She’s also a big believer in backing yourself.

“I think what I’ve learnt the most is to trust my judgement.”

“It’s ok to make mistakes, because that’s how we learn. And that’s probably been the biggest thing for me. I’ve been given the opportunity to make mistakes, learn from them, and become a better person, banker, and ANZ employee.”
